Speakers and Workshops

ASK sponsors and works with key stakeholders to promote speakers and workshops to educate the community on issues ranging from youth mental health to alcohol and drugs prevention to parent liabilities.

No Letting Go | April 29, 2019 A screening of "No Letting Go", followed by a community conversation with Randi Silverman, Founder and Executive Director of The Youth Mental Health Project. Sponsored by The Rotary Club of Yorktown and the Town of Yorktown.

Hang Up and Drive | April 23, 2019 The Yorktown Central School District and ASK have partnered to bring in Jacy Good and Steve Johnson, who will share their story about how a distracted driver changed their lives forever. Help us eradicate an epidemic that shatters thousands of American lives every year – Hang Up And Drive.

The Teen Brain | March 28, 2019 Dr. Dewey will present actual PET scan images to show how alcohol and drug use affects the developing teen brain. The discussion will include information about a variety of substances, including energy drinks, caffeine, marijuana, vaping, prescription drugs, and emerging research on the impact of cell phone use and video games. 

Save A Life | March 2019, featuring keynote-speaker John Morello, an actor, comedian, and nationally recognized author and speaker. 

Save A Life | March 2018, featuring keynote-speaker Dr. Michael Fowlin who is a clinical psychologist and nationally recognized speaker. Dr. Fowlin's acclaimed presentations cultivate an atmosphere of inclusion, and all audience members will leave his presentation empowered to accept the differences in themselves and others.

Speak Sobriety: A Journey to Recovery - Stephen Hill | January 2018, Lakeland Central School District The inspiring story of a young man's struggle with addiction and journey to recovery.

Ginger Katz - Courage to Speak Foundation | Fall 2017, Mildred E. Strang Middle School Prevention Education Program for Middle School builds skills to help students make good decisions and resist the pressure to use drugs.

Ty Sells - Youth to Youth International | Spring 2017, Copper Beech Middle School A fun, youth-oriented presentation that challenges young people to make positive choices in regard to alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.  

Save A Life | April 2, 2017 featuring Keynote Speaker Jacy Good, a nationally-recognized public speaker and advocate for cellphone-free roads.
