Alliance For Safe Kids In Voting Contest For Tompkins Mahopac Bank Prize

A social media contest to benefit a local nonprofit needs the public’s input.

A final/third round of voting will begin Wednesday in the Tompkins Mahopac Bank’s Community Minute Challenge which gives a gift of $2,000.

The voters will select their favorite one-minute video by a group of Hudson Valley non-profits, as posted on Tompkins Mahopac Bank’s Facebook page .

The organization that earns the most votes for its video from Nov. 3 to 17 will win the money.

The winner of round one was the Sparrow’s Nest, a Wappingers Falls-based not-for-profit that provides meals to families of caregivers diagnosed with cancer, with a $2,000 check in May.

For round two, non-profit Gullotta House used its $2,000 winnings in September to aid those with financial or other hardships in Westchester County.

“It has been our pleasure to contribute to our area’s non-profits through our Community Minute Challenge,” said Jerry Klein, president and CEO of Tompkins Mahopac Bank.  “It’s wonderful to know that the funds are benefiting those in need right in our own backyards.”

The six non-profits competing for the prize money during the challenge’s third round include:

Dutchess County organizations: Anderson Center for Autism and Julie’s Jungle; Putnam County’s non-profit Green Chimneys; and Westchester County organizations, Hope’s Door, Alliance for Safe Kids and Bridges to Community.

During the challenge’s voting period, November 3 to 17, participants can like Tompkins Mahopac Bank’s Facebook page, click on the Community Minute Challenge app and elect their non-profit of choice.

People can vote once every day for their favorite video that explains how the contest’s winnings will be used.

The winning organization will be posted on Facebook page.

The bank is slated to donate $6,000 in total through this contest.
