The Yorktown Parks and Recreation Department and the Yorktown Central School District are hosting the 21st Annual Yorktown Community Day.
The event is scheduled for Saturday May 15 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm – on the campus of Mildred E. Strang Middle School. In case of inclement weather, activities will be held inside.
The fair will feature many family-oriented activities including entertainment, music, inflatable bounce houses, Child ID services, display of Yorktown’s emergency vehicles, a business showcase and exhibition area, and so much more.
Activities will be available for kids of all ages! Featured events will include hula-hoop, jump rope and balloon blowing contests as well as a water balloon toss. Musical entertainment will be performed by the winner of the “Yorktown Battle of the Bands” competition (which will be held on Friday May 14). Local authors will also be on hand for book signings and selected readings.
New this year is an area hosted by Fieldhome where senior citizens are invited to play cards, have coffee and relax with friends.
More than 60 civic organizations and local businesses will be participating to make this a very special day for Yorktown. All proceeds of the event benefit drug prevention programs (D.A.R.E. and Alliance for Safe Kids) for Yorktown youth.
Yorktown Community Day is supported by the Yorktown A&P, Yorktown Lions/Leos Club and The Journal News – Yorktown Express.
