Dr. Paul Weigle, who specializes in child and adolescent psychiatry, will explore how screen media habits impact the health of teens.  Advances in persuasive design coupled with social distancing measures have resulted in an explosion of screen media engagement to the extent that it now dominates the lives of many teens.  In moderation, age-appropriate electronic media can be a healthy and enjoyable activity.  In excess, it displaces needed socializing, academics, family contact, physical activity and sleep, damaging mental health.   Supervising teens’ screen habits is challenging but vital, and practical tips for doing so will be discussed.
