About this Event

This film will help us understand more about the effects of technology on the brain, what we can do to self-regulate, and how we can help our children create a healthy relationship with social media and technology. For more information about the film, visit https://www.thelikemovie.com/

A panel discussion will take place after the film featuring the following speakers:

Dr. Mark Bertin is a developmental pediatrician and author of How Children Thrive, Mindful Parenting for ADHD and The Family ADHD Solution, which integrate mindfulness into the rest of evidence-based pediatric care. He is a contributing author for the book Teaching Mindfulness Skills to Kids and Teens. Dr. Bertin is on faculty at New York Medical College and the Windward Teacher Training Institute, and on the advisory boards for the non-profits Common Sense Media and Reach Out and Read. Laurie Ciavardini is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been practicing in our community for 25 years. She has a wealth of experience working with adolescents, young adults and adults individually, in groups and with families. She is a member of the Drug and Alcohol Prevention Council, facilitates the BPC Parenting Group and writes for the BPC Parenting Blog. Laurie is a Certified Military Counselor, an Advanced Military Designated Eagala Mental Health Provider and Equine Specialist, a licensed Hypnotherapist and certified in Animal Assisted Therapy.

Jessica Knopke is a Katonah School District mom to Hailey (13) and Jake (10.) Jessica is a Pediatric Occupational Therapist, serving clients within school and home settings. She is a certified yoga teacher, children’s yoga teacher and meditation teacher. Jessica has implemented Yoga and Mindfulness programs in both public and private schools from toddlers through teens and is the founder of Lily Pad Yoga, LLC. (https://www.lilypadyogany.com/).
