ASK collaborates with every sector in our community to promote awareness and provide support tools for youth and their families to practice self care, while empowering care for others. Last month, ASK’s partnership with the business community and local law enforcement was in full effect!
Did you know that ASK’s Safe Driving initiative receives support from State Farm Insurance? It is through funding received from the State Farm Good Neighbor Citizenship Grant that ASK is able to share awareness about the dangers of distracted driving and STOP TXTING U R DRIVING items with the community. The grant funds also help ASK to support the Yorktown Police Department with their efforts to keep our local roadways safe.
Yorktown’s Chief of Police, Robert Noble, had this to say about the successful partnership:
“Like good neighbors, State Farm and the Alliance for Safe Kids acquired grant funding which assisted the Yorktown Police Department in facilitating a hands free traffic detail recently. On October 1, Yorktown Police Officers conducted a four hour detail that resulted in 48 summonses for various moving violations, including texting while driving. The Yorktown Police Department thanks the Alliance for Safe Kids for obtaining these funds from State Farm. They truly “helped us, help you” make the roads in our town a bit safer that day!”
We are grateful for the wonderful work done by the Yorktown Police Department and for the support from State Farm to help keep our community safe. ASK is thrilled to be a community connector that all may benefit from!
