There are so many fun things to do that DON’T involve getting high or wasted.
Exercise. Not only is working out physically healthy, it is mentally healthy too! Exercise releases endorphins, relieve stress and take your mind off of things.
Eating a good meal with friends or family. Food is a great way to have conversations, share culture, and just connect with people in general. (Make sure you put down your cellphones!)
Pick up a hobby. Whether it is skateboarding, writing, hiking, or painting – do what you love and enjoy!
Go on an adventure! There are so many amazing places to visit – especially here in the Hudson Valley. Pack a lunch and climb Turkey Mountain… Go kayaking on the Hudson River… Visit the Bear Mountain Zoo… Explore a museum in NYC… the options are endless!
Music! There are so many new artists and bands to fall in love with. Turn up your iPod, break out your air guitar, and sing and dance with your friends.
Volunteer! When you volunteer, you not only give back to your community but you feel good too! Volunteer with the Alliance for Safe Kids (or check out Volunteer New York for other opportunities) and learn new skills, meet new people and give back to your community.
Nothing at all! Learn how to be comfortable with silence. Be still. Lay outside in the grass and just enjoy the world around you. Take some time to relax and be present in the moment.
