The month of January signifies a fresh start for the new year. Many people make it a point to get healthier for the new year without being specific about goals they want to achieve. Here are a few healthy New Year’s resolutions you can accomplish.
- Drink more water. Drinking more water will maintain the balance of body fluids, increase alertness, and improve skin.
- Exercise more. Gradually increase your physical activity and set achievable fitness goals like walking during your lunch break, going to the gym three times a week, or joining an exercise class.
- Get proper rest. Your body needs to reboot itself after a long day of work, so make the commitment to get at least 6-8 hours of sleep, skip that afternoon coffee break, and stick to a consistent sleep schedule.
- Eat healthier. Incorporate more fruits and veggies into your diet, eat more foods rich in omega-3s like seafood, increase your fiber intake by eating whole grains, and cut back on added sugar.
- Prioritize your health. Most people avoid seeing their doctor unless they are extremely sick or if they were injured. Put your health first by getting your annual wellness check up, staying up to date with your vaccinations, and getting screened as a preventative measure against illnesses and infections.
