The 24th annual Yorktown Community Day, which showcases local businesses and organizations, is set for Saturday, June 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Jack DeVito Memorial Field.
The day will include music, entertainment, games and activities. It will also highlight the culinary creations of local restaurants and amateur chefs that will compete in the 8th annual ‘The Taste of Yorktown’ cook-off.
Categories will include Best Barbeque, Best Yorktown Signature Dish, Best Cupcake (new this year), and People’s Choice.
“This day is all about bringing together Yorktown and sharing our unique roles in making our community special,” said Lisa Tomeny, Executive Director of Alliance for Safe Kids that is sponsoring the day. “This community spirit is the foundation for the safety net that we collectively build and strengthen for our young people and families all year long!”
Yorktown Community Day participants represent a wide range of Yorktown groups – from emergency services (police and ambulance) to civic organizations (Yorktown Lions, Justin Veatch Fund) to local community groups (Relay for Life teams, Girl Scouts) and more.
