Tips to Manage Stress in College

Stress and anxiety.

Both very broad terms that bring so much meaning to an everyday college student. Between the three papers you have to write, that midterm you have to study for, or maybe even that presentation that has to get done for your final grade. These are only a few, however, all of this madness comes down to play regarding the average life of a college student. You’re right, no one said it was a piece of cake. Therefore, the responsibilities expected of us as students can cause a great deal of stress.

Throughout the duration of our four years may leave teens feeling anxious and overwhelmed, considering the amount of work that needs to get done. Also, you cannot avoid maintaining such a tight, compact schedule of classes along with any other extracurricular activities you are involved in: work, track, tutoring, you name it. It’s difficult I must say, however us as students cannot run away from the challenges we signed up for. Time management skills can serve a great purpose in potentially reducing the stress and anxiety us college kids endure.

The most crucial component when managing your own time is to provide yourself with a designated plan at hand. What I’ve noticed, as well as doing some research on time management, owning some sort of notebook and/or journal can really help you prioritize the tasks in which you need to get done. Preferably a planner may do some justice. Physically having your tasks laid out in front of you and checking them off as you go can improve your productivity by a long shot. Especially considering the planner’s universal, organized fashion. According to Psychology Today, “planners encourage you to move on to the next one effectively and efficiently.” With that being said, planners serve their duty by sustaining us on track along with the goals we have set ourselves to reach.

Now would you look at that, maybe college is not too bad after all. Preparation and prioritization is key.
